Dave Bull
Principal
Dave’s vast experience has straddled teaching and practice. Formerly a full-time tenure track faculty member at The Ohio State University, he taught research methods applying to strategy and visual identity/branding systems, as well as information design/usability, visual language theory and design history. He has also held adjunct roles at University of Hartford and University of Cincinnati. As an advocate for design advancement, he has lectured at programs throughout the nation and delivered brand strategy and information design papers at international conferences in Stockholm, Milan and New York City.
Dave is recognized as the visual architect of the OhioHealth brand, one of the nation’s largest and highest ranking healthcare systems. He has also consulted to many internal marketing communications departments and provided support to noted international branding firms such as Siegel+Gale. As the design lead at VIA, an integrated agency with offices in Zürich, Columbus, New York City, San Francisco, Boston and Portland, Dave drove the design strategy for many of the firm’s Fortune 500 clients.

His education includes a virtual who’s who of international design practitioners and educators. While at RISD he received the Graduate Excellence Award and was given teaching responsibilities. When graduating from Ohio University he received the outstanding graduate in Graphic Design Award. Dave was president of the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts and 5-year board member of American Institute of Graphic Arts’ Cincinnati chapter. His professional work has received many regional, national and international awards.
